IMPACTR is flipping the script on the UN´s Gender Equality sustainable development target of 30% women in management by 2030. Only 3 women out of 10 at the decision table...in 10 years from now? Too slow...and too narrow thinking!
The "30% Males in Management by 2030?" debate is the next part in a series of IMPACTR-XCHANGE talk sessions and debates under the theme of Gender Equality.
Details of the debate:
For this debate we will be joined by a diverse group of speakers who will help us navigate by summarising the key actions from all of the discussions around international women´s day and the UN´s Gender Equality month of March.
It aims to get very specific and provide the audience with individual actions they can take as an every day person, that collectively, can make a big impact towards solving Gender Equality. We will demonstrate how if enough of us do even tiny actions that may seem small and insignificant on an individual level, can help us reach the tipping points for positive change.
We will zoom in on topics like "purse power", "inclusion rules", and perhaps even debate the merits of what could be perceived as a controversial sustainable development target of "30% males in management by 2030".
Our previous IMPACTR XCHANGE series on ´Diversity & Inclusion in Tech also showed us that "Quotas are for fish" and although they can help as a catalyst they alone are not the solution to Gender Equality. We need a massive shift in focus on active inclusion of under-represented groups.

“Climate Change is just a symptom of social injustice and inequality.”

The decisions that shape our world are simply nowhere near sufficiently including the voices of under-represented groups. We are not at the table. Therefore we are seeing an extreme lack of progress towards solving impending catastrophic issues such as climate change.
In order to tackle climate change, studies show we first need to solve the gender balance issue. We simply do not have sufficient representation at the table for the under-represented groups that make up our population and can provide the diverse perspectives and input required to steer this ship back onto the right course.
We live in a world where by law 143 countries (only) have equal rights for both men and women built into their Constitutions. And yet even in these countries the opportunities are very far from equal and no country has genuinely achieved gender equality. We are riddled with exclusion, discrimination and unconscious bias, preventing voices which have the potential to solve challenges and innovate faster and smarter are being suppressed and unutilized.
