About this event
What is a Death Cafe?
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea or coffee and discuss death. The objective is to offer an accessible, respectful and confidential space for discussion of this subject 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.
Founded by Jon Underwood in 2011 the Death Cafes movement has spread quickly across Europe, North America and Australasia - since its inception there have been more than 13500 Death Cafes in 81 countries.
