There have been times in history when the colour and texture of hair has been used to judge individuals and groups ‘racially valueless’. UCL Museums and Collections own a rare Haarfarbentafel (hair colour chart) manufactured in the early 20th century as a ‘standard’ scale for hair hierarchy. Such hair sample boxes have been called ‘killing machines’. Event includes talks, film, audience debate.
