We will be returning to Dead Horse for a weekend outing again this year. This is a whole family event, as there are lots of activities around the area for non-fishing family members such as antiquing, wine tasting in historic downtown Cottonwood and Jerome, bird watching, hiking, or just plain relaxing at the park itself. If camping is not your style, there are rentable cabins at the park and many fine hotels a stone’s throw away, or plan on making another day trip. Either way you can’t go wrong! Plan on attending the Saturday potluck at 4:00 PM and bring your favorite dish or dessert.
Be sure to register so we have a good idea of the head count. AFC will be providing the main course. If you are planning to attend the February outing, you can make online camp/cabin reservations at Arizona State Parks/Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Club members will be staying in the Quail Loop Campground. Members already have made reservations for Sites 1-9. There are many good sites still available but DON’T WAIT. Dead Horse is a very popular park, and we want all our members included in a fun weekend! To reach Dead Horse, drive north on I-17 to Camp Verde, exit at Highway 260 and go west to Cottonwood. Turn left on Highway 89A and drive about 1.5 miles. Watch for the Dead Horse Ranch State Park signs and turn right into the park at 10th Street. We will have maps and information at the January general meeting.
