This is open to WEA-Riverside Certificated or Classified employees. Suitable for the General Ed, Special Ed Teacher, Para, or Clerical.

About this Event

Participants learn to recognize signs of a potential behavioral crisis and re-mediate before the event. In addition to exploring how their own behavior can contribute to the escalation cycle, participants discover de-escalation techniques that recognize the importance of maintaining student dignity during behavior crises.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Determine individual student behavior triggers

• Understand and describe the escalation cycle

• Recognize the signs of a potential behavioral crisis and re-mediate before the event

• Learn de-escalation strategies to use at each phase of the escalation cycle

Two Clock Hours will be provided by WEA.

A light dinner will be provided. If you have dietary needs/requests, please share at time of registration.
