A half day workshop on the who, what, why and how of patient and public involvement (PPI) in research led by Gary Hickey from INVOLVE.

Speaker: Gary Hickey, INVOLVE/National Institute for Health Research

Focus: What, why and how- what is PPI, how do we define PPI, the levels of involvement, why we do it and who should be involved with an update on the NIHR work on what do we mean by the patient and public.

Presentation: Patient perspective 11:05-11:35

Speaker: Mark Bracken, Peer Researcher Dublin Simon Community Service User Led Treatment Evaluation

Focus: The patient understanding and experience of PPI in health and social care research, expectations, recruitment, challenges, enablers and advice.

Public and patient bursaries:

A number of public and patient bursaries are available to cover travel expenses. These will be provided on a first come first service basis on emailing ppi@dcu.ie. Applicants can only avail of one bursary for the seminar series (2019 and 2020). Applications must be received by Nov 8th.
