About this event

As the house of medicine evolves, it is extremely important to understand all aspects of the law and potential legal issues that could affect you and/or your medical practices.

Join us as our host, David Strickland with Texas Medical Liability Trust, leads a discussion with two Dallas healthcare attorneys that represent physicians in their daily practice. Tune in to hear their perspective on how to protect yourself against legal action while practicing medicine.

Our panelists include Karin Zaner, with Zaner Law, who specializes in peer review, credentialing, HIPAA, NPDB, and licensing issues while creating practical pathways to the resolution of the myriad business, legal, and ethical issues that arise in the challenging practice of medicine today. And Diane Shaw, with Shaw and Associates, who specializes in medical malpractice defense focusing on HIPAA compliance, regulatory audits, Texas Medical Board complaints, and peer review.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn how to prepare and manage payer audits.

2. Understand the difference between an audit and prepayment additional documentation request.

3. Learn the important steps to take when responding to a TMB complaint.

4. Understand the significance of documentation and HIPAA.
