Event description

Description

From that DIY drive to the music scene of the 2000s, Detroit has fostered creative generations in all realms of work. We check in with the artists who made a name for themselves and remained in Detroit. What did it take? What resources and skills made it possible? And what does it all mean to the generation to come?

Speakers to include:

  • Kiki Louya, co-owner of The Farmer’s Hand and Folk

  • Karen Dybis, local author

  • Alexandra Clark, owner and CEO, Bon Bon Bon

  • Jennyfer Crawford, Ask Jennyfer and All Things Detroit

This is the seventh event in a series of events taking place between April-October 2018. Lawrence Technological University’s Detroit Center for Design + Technology (DCDT) Design Incubator will continue its creative economy-focused speaker seminar and workshop series, DCDT TALK, in 2018. DCDT TALK is meant to reach and support new and growing creative businesses in Detroit. For those seeking resources and guidance as they build a business in Detroit, a selection of eight programs will be presented courtesy of the Hudson Webber Foundation and in partnership with its Design Incubator programs DCDT CoWork and Woodward + Willis, a student-led design studio.
