Event description

Description

Have you considered writing poetry as an avenue for accessing joy and practicing gratitude?

In this workshop, we will study the abundant joy and gratitude woven into the art by examining contemporary poems and essay that effectively acknowledge, appreciate, and elevate a way of being that, especially in today's climate, becomes a form of resistance.

Join us for a two-hour workshop in which we will:

  • Explore joy and gratitude in writing (and in life)
  • Draft poems in practice
  • Play with and learn prompts to use as the poet Rumi declared, “hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.”

We'll have the materials and snacks, you bring yourself (and friends)!

This workshop is led by Kristen Zory King. Kris is a writer, artist facilitator, and founder of MoonLit, an organization that creatively connects community through accessible literary programming. She is a two-time recipient of the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities Fellowship, an alum of the 5th Woman Poetry Fellowship, and of DC's 202Creates Residency Program.
