Drinking wine isn’t like taking a swig of water or orange juice. Drinking wine is an experience. It’s all about the sense of the wine; the sight, smell, taste, and feel. The other half of the fun is knowing where the wine is coming from; which region the grapes are being grown, what the soil is like, and the wine making process. All of this is known as the “seven steps” to tasting wine. For this evening we will be focusing on tasting and identifying wine through the seven step process. To begin we will start everyone off with a blind wine tasting and then move on to a comparative tasting. These two tastings will be followed by reviews of the wines with a primary focus on the first four steps of the seven step process: sight, smell, taste, and feel. We will then transition into discovering how the first four steps tie directly into the last three: region, terrior, and wine making. At the very end we will test everyone on their new found wine tasting skills with two different red wines!
