The DC Square Dance is BACK and we're having an outdoor dance party at the (heated!) Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park!
About this event
Don't know about you, but it's been way too long since we've heard live fiddle music and stomped our feet to some sweet banjo rhythms. Covid safety is top of mind, and pre-registration, masks, and vaccination are all required for this one. The pavilion is open-air with good overhead heaters, plus we'll have the pent-up energy from two years without dancing to keep our hearts warm. We suggest dressing in layers so you can adjust as needed.
As always, no experience, partner, or fancy outfit needed. All dances are taught and called and everyone is welcome!
Members of the DC Square Dance Collective will be calling the dances, and boy, do we we have a hot band for you! You'll be in for a treat as you dance to the driving old-time music of Rachel Eddy, Em Hammond, Cathy Fink, and Marcy Marxer.
Important Details
Due to new Glen Echo Park requirements, attendance is by pre-registration only; cash sales and walk-ins are not permitted. Registrations are not refundable.
Please note that alcohol isn't allowed at this park! Let us know if you have ideas for outdoor venues where we can dance and have a drink.
Masks are required at all times inside the Bumper Car Pavilion, even when dancing.
The park's official address is 7300 Macarthur Boulevard, but the main parking lot is off Oxford Road, next to the Clara Barton Historic Site. View parking lot location in google maps.
Vaccination Policy
For your safety and comfort, this event is offered to attendees who are fully vaccinated AND boosted if eligible (timing wise).
- If you received your second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine before September 19, or one dose of the J&J vaccine before December 19, please obtain a Pfizer or Moderna booster at least a week in advance of the dance so you may attend.
- If you are not yet eligible for a booster (timing wise), full vaccination is still required: you must have received your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna on September 19 or later, or one dose of J&J on December 19 or later.
You will need to either email a photo or scan of your vaccination card to dcsquaredance+march2022@gmail.com (preferred) or show it to us when you check in. Please also include your phone number for contact tracing purposes. We are unable to offer exceptions to this vaccination policy. Please also bring a photo ID to show at the door.
We will keep a record of your vaccination status so that you can attend future dances without having to send your information again. We will not share any of this information and we will not keep the original image of your card.
