Event description

Description

Just 24 years old as the new nation’s federal capital, Washington City (as DC was known then) was nearly wiped out of existence by the British Navy invasion over land on August 24, 1814. Nearly every federal building was burned including the White House and the Capitol Building. But something amazing happened that spared DC.

On the 203rd anniversary of the British invasion join Jeff Miller, the DC Cycling Concierge, as he guides you down avenues the Brits set ablaze. Hear some of the fascinating stories of acts of heroism and amazing natural circumstances that kept our beautiful city from total destruction. This tour may include a stop at a historic pub to toast the bravery of our countrymen, especially the Marines.

The ride will be at a casual/relaxed pace at last approximately two and a half hours. From prior rides that Jeff has led, we’ve seen how he educates, enlightens and inspire everyone – even long-time DC residents. We invite you to join other friends of the Bike Rack at our Logan Circle shop on Q Street to roll out for a fun and easy-going ride with plenty of stops. RSVP today!

For more information about Jeff MIller and DC Cycling Concierge, visit: www.DCCyclingConcierge.com.

I propose Thursday August 24th from 7-9:30pm to avoid the heat a bit (sunset is 8:00) AND this is the 203rd Anniversary of the British Invading.
