Event description

Description

Please join the DC Chapter and the Democracy & Development expert group for a panel discussion exploring how entrepreneurship can be a potentially powerful tool to promote peace and stability in post-conflict and emerging economies.

The chapter meeting will feature a brief presentation from Steven Koltai, the former Senior Advisor for Entrepreneurship at the State Department. He will discuss the thesis of his new book, "Peace Through Entrepreneurship." Today he is Managing Director of Koltai & Company, an entrepreneurship program development consultancy, and is a Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution.

After his initial presentation, he will be joined for a panel discussion by Truman Democracy & Development Expert Group co-leader Greg Adams, who most recently spent six years as Director of Aid Effectiveness for Oxfam America, and Nick Kesler, a Navy veteran who is the founder of VetImpact, a nonprofit consulting and advocacy firm dedicated to helping veteran entrepreneurs create, grow, and scale international businesses that promote economic development and trade in post-conflict and emerging economies.

This is a topic that has ramifications impacting U.S. foreign policy, international development projects and global entrepreneurship. Don't miss it! Please bring a few bucks for food and drink.
