Description

HIV and Renal Disease: What Healthcare Providers Need To Know

People with HIV can be at increased risk for kidney disease due to many factors: HIV can cause kidney damage; HIV related medications can cause kidney damage when not monitored properly; some non-HIV medications can cause kidney damage, and a host of other factors that cause kidney disease in the general population, i.e.: hypertension, diabetes, and HCV, can also contribute to risk for kidney disease in people with HIV. This session will review these issues for case managers to improve their ability to provide basic health education and make referrals as appropriate.
