Event description

Description

Join DC Audubon for a bird walk at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. The marsh, ponds, and woodlands provide habitat for Green Herons, Great Egrets, Osprey, and Pileated Woodpeckers. As summer draws to a close, we have the chance of catching early-migrating shorebirds and songbirds passing through on their way south.

Meet in the parking lot of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens off of Anacostia Ave NE. As always, please be mindful of weather conditions, dress and hydrate appropriately, and use caution when traveling to new or unfamiliar birding locations.

Of note if traveling via Metro: Two years ago, one of our participants was robbed of valuables at the Deanwood Metro stop. This is the only incident that we are aware of in the history of our events, and fortunately, there were no injuries, but we recommend that you keep expensive items like binoculars, cameras, and phones out of sight, and avoid travelling alone if possible.
