At the tip of East Potomac Park, Hains Point boasts the largest species count of any single birding spot in Washington, D.C. With great views of the Potomac and Washington Channel, Hains Point offers wonderful habitat for wintering waterfowl, gulls, and numerous raptor species. We'll also be on the lookout for kinglets, nuthatches, and sparrows.

Directions

Meet in the parking lot at the southern tip of Hains Point. Unfortunately, public transportation options are limited. The DC Circulator - National Mall route stops at the Jefferson Memorial, a 40-minute walk from the meeting point. The nearest metro stations (Smithsonian and L'Enfant Plaza) are several miles away.
