Event description

Description

Come to New York Insight Meditation Center for Amma Thanasanti Bhikkhuni's last teaching appearance as a monastic. This daylong retreat is titled "Access to Awakening: Divine Sourcing vs. Self-Sourcing". It will combine the steady focus and insight of Vipassana meditation, with the relational practice of inquiry to find our own access to awakening.

A Buddhist nun and teacher, Amma Thanasanti Bhikkhuni talks about facing social issues and moving into action with the energy that she calls “pervasive love”. This is a love that is ever-present, timeless, vast, unconditioned, and nourishing–different from the more complicated love we may commonly experience in our relationships with family and friends. Pervasive love is a wholesome energy from where we can move through the world in ways that possibly do no harm, and supports meeting the needs of all people. Pervasive love is in another realm. All traditions reference this pervasive love with different words. Though we all may find different ways to open into it, radiant love is there for all of us to access.

Amma Thanasanti Bhikkhuni will soon no longer have the title of Bhikkhuni after June 2017, but she will continue to serve these intentions for her life and the world.
