Day of Peace

October 26, 2013 9am-12pm

Join Project Peace at our Day of Peace, Saturday, October 26th from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. We are pleased to be partnering with Cal student group The Berkeley Project to serve our communities together!  Over 2,000 volunteers will work together on October 26th to make a difference all over the East Bay. 

Berkeley Sites:

LeConte Elementary School: Volunteers will be helping PTA and staff with general maintenance, classroom organization, and cleaning projects.   Space is limited to 40. City: Berkeley. MAP

Y.E.A.H.: Volunteers will assist staff at YEAH (Berkeley's only youth homeless shelter) to prep facilities for the upcoming shelter season.  Space is limited to 15. City: Berkeley. MAP

Oakland Sites:

Claremont Middle School: We will assist PTA and staff both inside and out with general mainteance, clean up, and working in the garden. Space limited to 100. City: Oakland. MAP

Emerson Elementary School: Volunteers will assist PTA and staff with gardening, cleaning, and general faciliites maintenance.  Space is limited to 30. City: Oakland MAP

16th Street Station: The 16th Street Station is an Oakland Historic Landmark.  Built in 1912 it has played a significant role in the history of West Oakland, but since has fallen into disrepair.  Volunteers will help with general grounds maintence, weeding, and general clean up.  Not suitable for small children, limited access to restrooms, and bring your own water! Space limited to 25. City: Oakland. MAP

Garfield Elementary School: NEW SITE!!  Garfield is an underserved school in the San Antonio neighborhood of Oakland.  Volunteers will assist the staff and community leaders inside and out with various facilities projects.  Space is limited to 30 at this site.  City: Oakland MAP


  • Coffee and bagels will be provided at all sites on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to wear work clothes and comfortable shoes.  Bring your own water.  
  • Sites have limited volunteer opportunities. Please, register in advance so that you (and your friends) can be sure to serve at the site that most interests you.
  • As always, there will be no childcare, but supervised children are welcome at most sites.
  • Project Peace/Day of Peace T-Shirts are for sale on our website for $15.
