Description
The St Petersburg Day in Solidarity with African People is part of an international fundraising and action campaign to build support and resources for the worldwide struggle of African people for self-determination, liberation, and reparations. Culminating in at least six major events in San Diego, Oakland, Philadelphia, Gainesville, Dallas, and St Petersburg, the multi-faceted campaign is also comprised of national days of outreach, weekly meetings, fundraisers, events, actions, and other ways that organizers across the country are bringing the African Liberation Movement into our own white communities.
Join us inSt Petersburg, FL to hear the leader of the African Socialist International, Chairman Omali Yeshitela speak about the importance of Euro-Americans support for the African liberation movement. Fresh from Ferguson where teenager Michael Brown was brutally shot and killed by the police, Chairman Omali will speak about the conditions faced by African people not only in the U.S. but worldwide, and why it is in the interest of white people to support African self-determination. He will be reading exceprts from his latest book An Uneasy Equilibrium: The African Revolution Versus Parasitic Capitalism. Penny Hess, Chair of the African People's Solidariy Committee and author of Overturning the Culture of Violence, will also be speaking.
This is an opportunity for white people to show solidarity with the struggle of African people and see the world through the eyes of the oppressed. By doing so, we will see how reparations are a critical part of peace and justice for the Black community. Join us for this important event!
