Day 1 Banned Books Week - Women's Suffrage Exhibit and Webinar
Event Information
About this event
Securing the Vote: Women's Suffrage in Indiana is a mobile exhibit through the Indiana Historical Society and is at KVML through Sunday, September 27, 2020. The exhibit takes visitors on a journey introducing them to the strong Indiana women who labored tirelessly for suffrage in our home state. The exhibit begins in 1851 with Hoosier Amanda Way initiating the first Women's Rights Convention in Dublin, Indiana, and takes visitors all the way through the historic decision in 1920 allowing women to vote. We are so excited to be part of this wonderful exhibition! Ticket includes virtual or in-person viewing of the exhibit. At 2:00pm, Indiana Business Journal Managing Editor Lesley Weidenbener will give a virtual presentation on women and the vote and women's empowerment. Weidenbener joined IBJ in 2015 after more than 20 years covering politics and government at the Indiana Statehouse for The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne, The Courier-Journal in Louisville, and TheStatehouseFile.com, where she taught a staff of Franklin College students how to be journalists. She covered five governors, more than two dozen legislative sessions and special sessions, and countless political campaigns. In addition to writing, Weidenbener enjoys shooting photos and editing video and sound and likes to think of herself as a little crafty, especially when it comes to reupholstering a chair.
