Event description

Description

David Briggs returns to St. James for a special concert of exquisite, French-inspired harmonies; music that asks the timeless questions about life, death, and mortality. Step into a reflective atmosphere for this Remembrancetide concert for small ensemble, organist David Briggs, and the Choir of St. James Cathedral.

David Briggs is an internationally renowned organist whose performances are acclaimed for their musicality, virtuosity, and ability to excite and engage audiences of all ages. With an extensive repertoire spanning five centuries, he is known across the globe for his brilliant organ transcriptions of symphonic music by composers such as Mahler, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Elgar, Bruckner, Ravel, and Bach. He was Artist-in-Residence at St James Cathedral, Toronto and is currently Artist-in-Residence at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, New York City.

Uniquely within the city of Toronto, the fully professional 18-voice Choir of St. James Cathedral sings as part of the Anglican worship at Eucharist (11:00am), and Evensong (4:30pm) each Sunday to an internationally high standard. Its repertoire spans eight centuries, and provides a balanced diet of choral delights to congregations young and old, non-Christians and Christians, and those whose ears hold an insatiable curiosity for music.
