“…contemporary in the best sense of the word, harmonically sophisticated yet always accessible thanks to an unswerving reliance on time-honored melodies and rhythms. In other words, this is big-band jazz that quickens the pulse, swings hard and enhances the tradition."

- Jack Bowers, All About Jazz

The Dave Slonaker Big Band, coming off its 2013 Grammy® nomination for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album returns with a new CD of new music celebrating the tradition, but also pushing the possibilities of big band jazz. They will perform music from the new CD, Convergency, in a CD Release Concert featuring top Hollywood jazz and studio musicians, including a trumpet section comprising Wayne Bergeron, Ryan DeWeese, Clay Jenkins, and Ron Stout; trombonists Alex Iles, Charlie Morillas, Ido Meshulam, and Bill Reichenbach; saxophonists Bob Sheppard, Brian Scanlon, Rob Lockart, Tom Luer, and Adam Schroeder. The rhythm section comprises Larry Koonse (electric guitar), Ed Czach (piano), Edwin Livingston (bass), Peter Erskine (drums), and Brian Kilgore (percussion).

Dave Slonaker is a composer, arranger, and orchestrator who has worked in Hollywood for over 30 years. His film and TV orchestration credits include Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Justice League, Alice In Wonderland, Spider-Man, Air Force One, The Orville, Murder She Wrote, Jag, and many others. Equally at home as a jazz composer and arranger, his compositions and arrangements have been performed by Clark Terry, the Woody Herman and Count Basie orchestras, and many others.
