Madden is the rare combination of accomplished songwriter and masterful multi-instrumentalist. His peers consider him a “musician’s musician”. He is an alum of the illustrious TED organization, having performed and presented a striking dissertation on music theory at TEDxNapaValley in 2015. Dave equally enjoys creating his own music and collaborating with others. He has been hired to perform with a diverse range of world-class artists, from reggae-pop favorite Michael Franti to legendary rock icon Steve Miller, from platinum-selling band Fastball to Mark Mothersbaugh, co-founder of Devo. The Austin-American Statesman declares, “Like summer, it would be nice if Madden's choruses lasted forever.” In the midst of a singer/songwriter sea of throaty voices, Dave Madden is a pleasant surprise. A talented guy, yes: His songs are catchy, yet fraught with meaning.

About your host Will Taylor

I grew up here and I know secret wild spots and stories about Austin that most don't. I've been a professional violinist and Austin music icon for over 20 years. I've played with folks such as Willie Nelson, Pearl Jam, Gary Clark Jr., and more. I'm a lover of the outdoors and the magic of bringing people into nature for life-changing moments of connection and musical bliss. I have been a concert presenter of 18 years.

What we’ll do

I'll take you on the only nature and acoustic music immersion experience currently in Austin. The experience will include a private guided walk to a natural acoustic concert spot on a private greenbelt or public park. You'll learn a few fun and interesting facts about the history, nature, and scenery.

Acoustic music interludes along the route will be provided by Will Taylor like this.

Reviews:

We had a very unique experience and ended up with a private date with a pair of hosts. We got to know each other and loved the led meditation and private concert. We loved the music, as we are music lovers and the knowledge of nature during the hike. We brought our little pups along and they were very understanding and accommodating, stopping for rest and water and even brought us to a spot they could take a quick dip to cool off in the water. We loved it and recommend to others. It was a nice date night trying something new and different. - Missy

This was a unique and special trip through time and nature, away from the hustle and bustle of automobiles and ever present screen proliferation. It is a very beautiful park in itself, but even better when you add the wonderful music, in a timeless retreat from now to any point in history with string music, you lose track of time and get closer to nature. Will and Karen were great guides, knowledgeable and thoughtful, and very talented. - Vernon

Will took us on a musical journey in nature that was incredible and therapeutic. We had a small group and hiked along a trail that was fairly leveled due to one of the hiker’s physical condition. Along the way Will made sure all of us were taken care of and having a good time. We were later joined by another amazing musician/cellist Charles. The only downside to this trip is that whenever I’m hiking now I miss Will and his gang of musicians. I’ve been spoiled. Next time I will bring my teenage kids. - Cassandra

Will Taylor

Violinist, composer and Austin Music Award winner Will Taylor has performed with Pearl Jam, Grammy winner Shawn Colvin, P-Diddy, Willie Nelson, Ronny Cox (Deliverance) and many more.

Will is the founder of Strings Attached in Austin, Texas.

When Pearl Jam came to Austin in October 2009 to record their live Austin City Limits Studio show that would be broadcast nationally, they choose to entrust the strings portion of the show to Will Taylor and Strings Attached.

Will Taylor has a musical proposition for you -- a playful, dignified, off-kilter idea that brings honor to Austin's identity as "The Live Music Capital of the World." It's a cool concept. But it's just a bit . . . different.

Imagine what might happen, suggests Taylor, if we took Austin's most popular singer-songwriters -- Abra Moore, or Jimmy LaFave, or Patrice Pike, or Ray Wylie Hubbard -- and let them perform, live, in a church? Then imagine if you paired those artists with acoustic "chamber" instruments -- cello, violin, viola, trumpet and hand drums -- and wrote new arrangements, adding dashes of jazz and classical music, that revealed new facets of their most beautiful or familiar songs?

Imagine what might happen if you dared to blur all these boundaries between pop music and jazz, between rock music and classical music, between the musical realm and the lyrical realm, between the honky-tonk and the church, and in the spirit of art and fun and experimentation, you reached out for something . . . transcendent?
