Dave Brubeck Tribute Project with reflections by Brubeck's producer, manager and conductor, Russell Gloyd. Performing Brubeck's iconic songs Take Five, Blue Rondo ala Turk, Time Out and more.

Russell Gloyd began his association with Dave
Brubeck in 1976. Mr. Gloyd was Dave Brubeck's, Manager, Producer,
Orchestrator, and conducted the many symphonic and choral appearances of
the Dave Brubeck Quartet in the United States and around the world.
His experiences with Brubeck are treasured ones and they will be greatly
enjoyed by Brubeck’s fans."

Lanny Grilly – Drummer/Producer
Lanny has a long history in Jazz, but the “Tribute To Dave Brubeck”
Has been a dream project for many years.

He has headed his own jazz groups over the years, and has performed
with such notables as Willie Pickens, Mose Allison Chuck Webb, Laury
Shelley, Kim Martell, Fareed Haque, Henry Johnson, and Robert Goulet.
Additionally, he has played in venues from San Francisco to Las Vegas, to
New York and internationally in Rome, Paris, Tel Aviv, Jamaica, and Havana Cuba.


Peter Roothaan – Sax/Music Director
Peter has performed with such jazz luminaries as Nancy Wilson, James Moody,
David “Fathead” Newman, Benny Golson, Jimmy Heath, Terry Gibbs, and Henry
Johnson. In addition to performing, Mr. Roothaan is a long-time music educator
and band director, as well as teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute, and piano.


Leandro Lopez Varady – Piano

Leandro was a classically trained pianist in Argentina.
Since immigrating to Chicago, he has been in high demand
in the jazz & theater circles - most notably, The Chicago
Jazz Philharmonic, and as the musical director of Looking
Glass Theater Productions.

Leandro has performed in festivals around the world including
The Chicago Jazz Festival, The Chicago Jazz Festival in Poland,
The Havana Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Y Pop Festival in Buenos
Aires.


Rafe Bradford - Bass

Famed bassist, Rafe Bradford is an industry veteran who has
performed with such notables as Nancy Wilson, McCoy Tyner,
Stanley Turrentine, and Aretha Franklin…just to name a few.

Also, Rafe is a top recording producer and session player whose
Versatility makes him an on-call bassist for commercials, such as
McDonalds's, Golden Grahams, Crest, and even "Oprah!"

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? Unless otherwise indicated, all of our shows are all ages. Please bring a valid ID.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? There is plenty of metered parking along both Dempster St. and Chicago Ave., and meters do not need to be fed after 9pm. SPACE is located one block east of the Dempster Purple Line Stop.

What can I bring into the event? SPACE has a full bar with an exciting array of cocktails and an extensive beer list. While we do not serve food in our venue, customers are welcome to bring in pizza from Union, the restaurant up front. No outside food or beverages are allowed inside.
