Event description
Dauphin Island Sea Lab training for volunteers to assist with the Marine Mammal Research Program in marine mammal strandings and sightings.

About this Event

Join us for our next Marine Mammal Research Program volunteer training on Saturday, September 7th from 10 AM- 12 PM!

The training will take place in the Shelby Auditorium on Dauphin Island Sea Lab's campus. Follow the posted signage for parking and entry. Light snacks will be provided.

Even if you have attended an introductory volunteer training in the past, we would love for you to join us for this training. We will cover topics such as live marine mammal response including first aid and triage, safety and disease protocols, biology and anatomy of marine mammals in the Gulf, how and why we necropsy deceased marine mammals, and how to use the Alabama Marine Mammal Stranding Network's (ALMMSN) stranding equipment. As volunteers for ALMMSN, you will need to attend regular trainings, so if you have not been to a training in recent years, please plan to attend this event. If you have questions or concerns about this training or volunteering with the Marine Mammal Research Center, please email ALMMSN at almmsn@disl.org and a staff member will respond. You do NOT need to bring a printed ticket with you, but we ask that you please RSVP by September 6th. See you there!

Note: The Marine Mammal Research Program can only accept volunteers 18 and older.
