Description

Join us for the video presentation of “Help! My Teen is Dating!” produced by The DATE SAFE Project. Founder Mike Domitrz gives parents tips and advice that will help empower you to talk to your teen about dating. The DATE SAFE Project believes the best approach in supporting teens through the dating years is to give teens positive insights and how-to skills for addressing verbal consent (asking first), respecting boundaries, sexual decision-making, bystander intervention, and the connection between alcohol and sexual assault. This video will help you determine if your son or daughter is ready to date and will strengthen your ability to initiate “the” conversation that will help your child make safer and smarter choices. Due to the mature content of this presentation, this event is for parents, educators, and adult community members only. Thank you!

In “Help! My Teen is Dating!” you discover the following skills for better preparing your sons and daughters for healthy dating:

  1. How to start the talk and get your teen to listen.
  2. Three questions that define if your teen should be dating.
  3. What to say to your teen's date.
  4. The exact words for addressing intimacy.
  5. How to establish clear & reasonable boundaries.
  6. The power in Asking First.
  7. Discussing the dangers: from Alcohol to Sexual Assault.
  8. How to truly “Be There” for your child.
  9. Necessary tools to help your teenager make good choices.
  10. Essential tips to fun and safer dating for your son or daughter.

In a world where people are constantly being told “What Not To Do,” The DATE SAFE Project believes the best approach is to give people positive how-to skills and helpful insights for addressing verbal consent (asking first), respecting boundaries, sexual decision-making, bystander intervention, and supporting survivors (opening the door for family and friends). Start talking, keep trying, and never give up. Strengthen your ability to help your son or daughter today – initiate a conversation that will help your child make safer and smarter choices.

The Date Safe Project is an organization focused on addressing healthy dating, consent, sexual decision-making, bystander intervention, sexual assault awareness, and supporting sexual assault survivors. Founder, Mike Domitrz (inspired by the personal story of his sister), started The DATE SAFE Project to help provide specific answers that will make it easier for each person take action that immediately can help make a positive impact in their life and in the lives of others. It’s all about showing respect, talking, intervening when needed, and caring about each other as human beings.
