Lunchtime Discussion: Data visualizations – Beyond the software

Learning a data visualization software, such as Tableau, is a good first step toward building and publishing data visualizations, however there are other things you’ll need to know, too. A group of local data journalists will discuss data visualization best practices, introduce you to some other software options, offer advice for those of you who might be the sole data visualization practitioner in your newsroom, talk about some basic data analysis skills you’ll need, and inspire you with examples of great data visualizations.

Moderator:
- MaryJo
Webster, computer-assisted reporting editor, Minneapolis Star Tribune

 Panelists:
- Jeff Hargarten, data visualization designer, Minneapolis Star Tribune
- CJ Sinner, digital producer, Minneapolis Star Tribune
- Alan Palazzolo, front-end developer, WNYC Data News
