About this event
We invite you to join us for the virtual opening night of the 2021 Data Through Design exhibition.
This year's theme is Ground Truth, in reference to the insight we receive from being ”on the ground,” collecting or confirming data through direct observation, as opposed to abstract estimates, samples, or reports derived from remote locations. Data Through Design seeks works that investigate this experience to connect data and the public to physical place and personal experience.
Exhibiting artists include: Snoweria Zhang, Brian Foo, Jennifer Dalton, Renée Crowley, Julia Bloom, Sukanya Aneja & Michael Hsu, Alec Barrett, Cindy Stockton Moore, Rachel Blake, John Stockton, Hoang Pham & Rachel Wetzel, Rachel LaBine & Aishwarya Keshav, Ivan Himanen &Noah Garcia, and Jason Forrest & Jen Ray.
Data Through Design is part of NYC Open Data Week and is sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Data Analytics and Brooklyn Arts Council. You may see the complete listing of Open Data Week events, including the NYC School of Data community conference, at open-data.nyc.
This year's opening exhibition will be fully virtual; registrants will be emailed a link to the event ahead of opening night. Attendees will have the opportunity to view the artwork, hear from the artists and virtually mingle in three dimensions on Arium, a 3D video chat platform. Doors open at 6pm and the program will begin at 6:20pm.
Capacity will be limited; please register on Eventbrite to reserve your spot. A suggested donation of $5-10 for those who are able to do is much appreciated.
