About this course

Data privacy has become a major field in  the  midst of rapid  technological changes, where access to information has become most vulnerable to unscrupulous use. This is what the Data Privacy Act of 2012 – through RA 10173 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) – is trying to address. To effectively implement the law and its IRR,  the  National  Privacy  Commission  (NPC)  issued  Advisory  No.  2017-01  for  the clear stipulation of the designation and roles of Data Protection Officers.

Data  Protection  Officers  (DPOs)  are  the  new  breed  of  data  privacy  processionals. They  are  not  only  created  by  law,  but  also  borne  out  as  emergent  industry stakeholders with distinct and unique functions and responsibilities. DPOs shall play a big role in shaping the future of organizations and companies in the Philippines in the  area  of  protecting  data  privacy  in  particular  and  the  preservation  of  integrity  of information in general.

What you will learn

The Certificate Course on Professionalization of Data Protection Professionals aims to  respond  to  the  emerging  demand  to  capacitate  DPOs  not  only  as  technical professionals  but  as  industry  leaders.  Specifically  through  the  certification  course, (1) DPOs will gain and be certified on the technical competencies on data privacy as required  by  law,  and  (2)  acquire  very  strong  leadership  perspectives  to  become effective leaders in their respective industry.
