A community built tech leaders, who come together to share ideas, discuss hot topics,latest trends and to network with like-minded people.

This is an invite-only group, however recommendations are welcomed.

Speaker: James Bletsoe (Head of Analysis @ Leeds Rugby)

Topic: "How data won the Challenge Cup" & "Utilising Data in Recruitment"


James is a senior member of the Leeds Rhinos coaching team and has been responsible for a team of staff who oversee all analysis for both Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie both at first team and academy level.

He started full time with Leeds Rugby in 2011 from OPTA. Originally from Northampton, he moved to Leeds to study for a BA(Hons) in Physical Education at Leeds Metropolitan University, before going on to gain an MSc in Sport and Exercise Science. On completing his studies, James worked for OPTA for two years overseeing analysis for both Rugby League and Rugby Union, working with Premiership clubs, Super League clubs, Sky Sports and various other media organisations.

A highly experienced Performance Analyst with over a decade’s experience; proven success in providing analysis driven solutions to elite performers by winning four Grand Finals, three Challenge Cups, one League Leaders Shield, and one World Club Challenge. In 2018, James was awarded “Clubman of the Year” at Leeds Rhinos in recognition of his work.

Speaker: Alex Kleyn (Lead Data Scientist @ Southampton FC)

Having obtained a Bachelors level Mathematics degree at the University of Sheffield, Alex went on to complete a Masters degree in Computer Science at the University of East Anglia.

He started out as a data analyst at Norwich City Academy working to improve the use of data across a variety of departments. He then moved to the first team technical scouting team where he established analytical processes to support scouting and recruitment.

In 2017, Alex moved to Southampton FC to work as a Data Analyst where he established an analytical framework in performance and scouting. Most recently, Alex has held the role of Southampton FC's Lead Data Scientist, overseeing data analytics and working closely with the analysis and scouting teams.
