Course Overview

Educators and researchers in the biological sciences who wish to broaden their student and/or experiment data acquisition computing skills will discover expert educator training at this unique training event. Host McGill University will provide everything needed for a first-rate educational experience. Attendee access to a first-rate laboratory training facility coupled with top notch instructors will provide the perfect environment for strengthening your critical data acquisition software and hardware skills. Plenty of time is provided for a pace of learning that matches each individual’s needs. The course agenda is structured to allow attendees to learn at their preferred pace while keeping to an intensive learning schedule. Our unique approach ensures you get the attention you need, irrespective of your experience level or that of any other attendee.


Attendees will gain an in-depth understanding of the major components needed to setup and effectively manage both student and research data workflow at the lab bench. Learning-by-doing amongst dedicated trainers and your colleagues is the quickest method by which to master curriculum, equipment and experiment variables. Exposing yourself to the wide range of biological applications discussed during this course will extend the learning opportunities back home. Attendees can expect hands-on training sessions designed to develop primary and secondary skill sets, along with dedicated sessions focusing on course management and curriculum development. Participants will be guided through the latest advances in ADInstruments software toolsets for recording, visualizing and analyzing data sets.

Event Schedule

Two full days divided into session blocks allow for a well-paced introduction to LabChart, and ADInstruments software for education balanced instructional approach including background/theory, experiment demonstrations, dedicated hands-on bench time and troubleshooting discussion provides a well-rounded and engaging experience. Course agenda is subject to change based on the collective interests of course attendees.

A detailed schedule will be sent to attendees approximately one week before the event.

*Training may be cancelled or rescheduled by Instructor due to adverse weather, low class enrollment, catastrophic event or for other reasons.

All registrants will be notified at least 30 days before the event and course registration fees will be fully refunded should course be cancelled.

*Course cancellations must be received prior to 30 days before the start date of the event to receive a full refund. No-show's and late cancellations will be charged the full event price.
