Description

ABOUT DARK ROOM.

A figure in the wall paper. A floating door. A bowl of eels. Wings.

These and other images have been left behind in the haunting, black and white photography of Francesca Woodman, a prolific prodigy who died by suicide in 1981 at the age of 22.

Decades later, her work, her life, and her death captured the imagination of playwright George Brant, author of DARK ROOM.

In the play, eleven scenes unfold, each inspired by a different photograph from Woodman's canon. A single, silent protagonist -- a simple girl in a polka dot dress -- navigates the journey.

Under the direction of Olivia D'Ambrosio, this world premiere production will feature an epic cast of 24 women, and original movement devised by Doppelgänger Dance Collective.

At once humorous, dark, eerie, and poetic, DARK ROOM will play this summer in the stunning Multicultural Arts Center. Please join us for an unforgettable theatrical event. Learn more at www.bridgerep.org.

Age / Trigger Warning. Dark Room contains material that may be sensitive for some viewers. Recommended age is 13+. For more information, or to make a specific inquiry, please email Associate Producer John Tracey (john@bridgerep.org).

ABOUT OUR TICKETING.

At Bridge Rep, we ask you to choose what you pay, based on the honor system and the following information:

1) Subsidized Tickets. Because the arts should be accessible to everyone, we offer a subsidized price point for students, seniors, other artists, or anyone else who is served by this offering.

2) Full Price Tickets. We believe people are honest and honorable, and that those who can pay the industry standard price of admission will do so as a gesture of support of the arts and culture in our city.

3) True Cost Tickets. In order to recoup the actual expenses associated with the show, we'd have to sell every seat at this level. The total expenses for Dark Room are calculated at approximately $101,604.00.

4) True Cost PLUS Tickets. This price point reflects how much we'd have to charge if we were to pay everyone involved with the production a minimum wage of $20 / hour, generated through ticket sales alone. Dark Room has a creative team of close to 60 people, including the cast, playwright, directors, designers, and managers. To pay them all a minimum of $20 / hour, Dark Room would cost well over half a million dollars to produce.

5) Preview Tickets. Preview nights are a transitional phase between rehearsal and opening night. Audiences essentially see a hybrid rehearsal/performance, during which the director and her creative team gauge audience response, and identify changes they'd like to make to the show during the remaining daytime rehearsal hours. Because these performances are not "finished" products, we offer them at 25% off. Come see us early, and be part of the process as we add the finishing touches!

Also, please note: we absorb all fees. That's right -- starting with Dark Room, what you see is what you pay. Thank you for being our patron!
