DARK FUTURES SFO 2019
Event Information
About this Event
"The Black Mirror of TED Talks." - 2018 attendee
Society goes about their daily routine oblivious to the psychological, physiological, macroeconomic and technological forces at work. Are we sleepwalking? Can we wake up to what is happening and affect it? Do we even have a choice?
Many conferences talk about the incredible possibilities that are delivered by innovations, this conference speaks about the hidden systems that affect our daily lives (whether we are aware of it or not). Today is darker than ever and we are going deeper...
Speakers
- Chris Noessel - Design of Evil
- Billie Carn - F Thinking
- Ola Kowalewska - Your Data in the Algorithmic Age
- Charles Lindsay - Remembering the Future
- Nik Badminton - Stop Being a Dictator
And, Nikolas Badminton, Futurist, will guide us through the evening with a few facts and stories that will really make you question your life entirely. Seriously, why do you spend so much time there?
The views and content presented by the speakers are not related in any way to those the organizer, sponsors, or venue management.
Please note: Line-up and/or talk titles may be subject to change. This event is also non-refundable.
DARK FUTURES rules of engagement
We are a fair, open-minded event. We have zero tolerance for lack of tolerance to other beautiful humans. That means no sexist, racist, right-wing, super-uncool POVs shared. Love is love even in the context of our Dark Futures.
Our speakers go dark. They’re informative. They state warnings for people/businesses to take away. It's cool to talk about hope for the future, just make sure we are covering challenging ground.

We are running DARK FUTURES in San Francisco (19th November, 2019), Vancouver (21st November, 2019), and Toronto (28th November, 2019).
