Dare2Tri Volunteer Training
Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM (CDT)
Dare2Tri Paratriathlon Club will be hosting a volunteer clinic on Saturday, May 11th from 9:30am to 11:30am at the 31st Street Harbor.
Volunteers will learn the concepts of guide running and piloting a tandem bike for athletes with visual impairments. They will also learn about the different adaptive equipment that athletes with physical disabilities may use through the three disciplines of triathlon: swimming, biking and running.
If available, please bring your bike and/or your running shoes as we will be riding and running on the lakefront path.
Outdoor metered parking is available on the East side of Lake Shore Drive, just North of the boat storage building. We will be meeting on the lakefront path, near the boat launch ramp, which is South of the boat storage building.
There will be signs or individuals to help direct you to our meeting area.
When & Where
Dare2Tri Paratriathlon Club
Dare2tri Paratriathlon club was launched in January of 2011. The club serves youth, adults and injured service members who have a physical disability such as amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy as well as those with visual impairments or blindness. We serve athletes of all ability levels from beginner to elite.
Athletes can compete in all three disciplines or be part of a relay team doing either the swim, bike or run. Our club is committed to providing the adaptive equipment, training opportunities, qualified coaching, and support for athletes through access to trained handlers and guides. We will ensure that athletes are fully prepared to dare2tri and inspire others to do the same.
