Dare2tri Injured Military Camp 2017 - Volunteer Registration

Dare2tri is looking for volunteers to assist with our annual Injured Military Camp from June 2-4, 2017. The camp will be held at Wolf Lake Park in Hammond, IN.
On Friday, June 2nd, and Saturday, June 3rd, athletes will participate in swimming (pool/open water), cycling and running sessions. Volunteers will assist athletes throughout these sessions. Camp will run from approximately 8am - 4:30pm on both of these days. We will send you a schedule a few weeks closer to the camp dates as we are still finalizing times.
On Sunday, June 4th, athletes will participate in the Leon's Sprint Distance Triathlon. Volunteers will be needed to help as a handler in the transition area or as a guide assisting their assigned athlete on the course.
Friday/Saturday Camp Volunteer (approx 8am-4:30pm) - Volunteer will assist during the the swim, bike and run group sessions throughout the day. Volunteer may be assigned to help an individual athlete or work with the entire group. Athletes may need help moving, adjusting, and/or getting in or out of their equipment. Volunteers may be swimming with athlete to assist with their swim technique and help them feel comfortable in the water. Volunteers may also be biking/running alongside athletes during those specific sessions. Please bring your swim, bike and run gear. We will have a limited number of upright bikes available, so we suggest bringing your own bike if available.
Personal Guide for Athlete during Sunday's Race (approx 6:30am-1pm) - Volunteer will be assigned to a specific athlete and help guide them throughout the race. Must be comfortable swimming, biking and running a Sprint distance triathlon. Volunteer will be alongside the athlete during the race making sure they are comfortable and safe. Depending on the athlete's disabiity and the equipment they are using, the volunteer may be riding their own personal bike alongside the athlete during the bike/run portion. We may have athlete's who are blind or visually impaired and require a guide who can swim tethered together, comfortably ride a tandem bike, and run using a tether. Let us know if you are comfortable and experienced guiding an athlete with a visual impairment. Please bring your swim, bike and run gear. We will have a limited number of upright bikes available, so we suggest bringing your own bike if available.
Transition Area Volunteer (Handler) during Sunday's Race (approx 6:30am-1pm) - Volunteer will be assigned to a specfic athlete and help them before, during and after the race. Volunteer will help athlete set up their transition area and equipment prior to the race. During the race, the volunteer will be in the transition area ready to assist the athlete during their transitions from swim to bike (T1) and bike to run (T2). Athletes may need help getting into their equipment during this time. After the race, volunteer will help athlete with their equipment if needed (i.e. bringing their everyday wheelchair to finish line, moving adaptive equipment, etc.) We generally assign two volunteers per athlete if the athlete requests a handler.
