Event description
Based on the research of Dr. Brené, Dare to Lead™ offered by Julie Boll Consulting is an empirically based courage-building program.

About this Event

Why do we need more courageous leadership in our nonprofit sector? Brave leaders and teams aren’t afraid to fail, and failure often brings us our greatest moments of clarity. Braver leaders model vulnerability and courage in the workplace, which fuels innovation and creativity. More courageous leaders and teams will help our nonprofits have a stronger impact on the communities they serve.

If you work in the nonprofit sector, or serve on the board of a nonprofit, this program is for you. Brown's definition of a leader is: anyone who holds him or herself responsible or accountable for finding potential in people or processes.

The Dare to Lead™ program is designed for individuals and teams who are ready to embrace brave leadership, shed their armor, and show up with whole hearts in their work and life. Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building program designed to help everyone in your organization learn the skills, practices and tools needed to support brave leadership and build more courageous cultures.

According to Brené’s research, there are four components of courage-building:

  • Rumbling With Vulnerability
  • Living Into Our Values
  • BRAVING Trust
  • Learning To Rise

To scale daring leadership and build courage in teams and organizations, we must cultivate a culture in which brave work, tough conversations, and whole hearts are the expectation, and armor is not necessary or rewarded.

This two-day Dare to Lead™ - St. Louis open enrollment workshop gives you the time and space you need to explore and understand the concepts presented in Brené's research, while also providing a safe space to practice the tools needed for courageous leadership. In addition to receiving a certificate of completion, individuals who complete the 16-hour program may put the Dare to Lead™ Trained badge on their LinkedIn account.

Brené is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and most recently completed a seven-year study on courageous leadership. She is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and Dare to Lead, which also debuted at #1 on The Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly list.

Further information about the program is available at https://daretolead.brenebrown.com.

Approximately one month prior to the start date for the program, a decision will be made to cancel or run the program. Julie Boll Consulting reserves the right to combine or divide programs or cohorts, to change the time, date, and/or location and to make other revisions in these offerings, which may become necessary. If this program is cancelled, the participants will be notified by our team and will have the option to transfer to a future session, obtain credit or receive a full refund.
