More than a million people imprisoned in the US today are serving time for a violent crime. Despite broad bipartisan support for criminal justice reform, the issue of violence remains a major gap in the conversation. In advancing reform, how do we navigate the complexities of violence, the pain and loss it causes, and its role in mass incarceration?

Until We Reckon, the new book by Common Justice Executive Director Danielle Sered, unpacks the ineffective use of incarceration as a response to violence, and proposes a holistic, humane response to crime. Join us as Sered discusses why justice requires more than individual restitution, how to answer violence and racism with reparations, and the path to changing the way our nation seeks justice.
