Event description

Description

Physical therapists in Cheyenne are sticking their patients with acupuncture needles and this is a public health and safety issue. Some are using the deceptive term "dry needling" to disguise thier use of acupuncture needles. They do not have the minimum basic training in the use of acupuncture needles (as this is acupuncture) and there are many well documented cases of these inadequately trained non-acupuncturists causing harm and injury to the public. THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED and the public needs to be informed.

Contact the Wyoming Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association and the national organization that sets the standards for acupuncture needle use education in the US (acaom.org) to find out if these non-acupuncturists have attended an approved graduate program of this type of needling (using acupuncture devices-needles). You will be shocked at what little training they actually have compared to a properly trained acupuncturist that holds a minimum of a 3-4 year master's degree in the field of dry needling (acupuncture is the proper name).

Attend our FREE 35 minute lecture and learn about the importance of seeking care from a qualified and properly trained needling specialist (a qualified acupuncturist).

Your physical therapist and chiropractor may mean well until they put you in the hospital with an organ puncture, give you nerve damage or even worse. They should have simply referred you to one of the qualified acupuncturists in your area instead of seeking to pad their pockets with more income. There was a time when greed did not dominate healthcare and physical therapist would encourage patients to seee qualified acupuncturists to complement care. This environment of integrative care and collaboration among professionals exists in many more urban and populated ares of the US where the acupuncture profession is supported and more greatly understood as an important complementary care option in health care.

Many of these non-acupuncturists are billing this needle procedure under insurance billing codes that are deceptive such as "manual therapy" and this is another major insurance deception issue as well. They need to simply stop needling patients. It is not their field and they must stop over-stepping their scope of practice for the sake of public safety and respect to the established acupuncture profession.

Please attend this important public safety and informative talk sponsored by the Wyoming Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association and help spread the word to others to not support these non-acupuncturists and their unsafe and profit driven practice of needling patients. Be informed and aware. Also learn about the questionable insurance billing tactics these deceptive practitioners are using to get this procedure covered by your insurance company. Insurance companies and legislators are waking up to this and will take action as they have in many States including WA, MA, NY, NJ, OR, CA, SD and many others. . . Colorado is the next State that has taken a stand and is winning the fight against this disturbing invasion on the acupuncture profession and their patients by inadequately trained non-acupuncturists. Keeping our patients safe is the priority. National standards for education and clinical training in dry needling have been in place for over 30 years. Physical therapists were never included or given a free pass on being properly educated. The arrogance of the physical therapy professiona and the individul physical therapists need to be called out and challenged with full force!

Gift certificates from local masters degree granted acupuncturists will be provided so that attendees can experience what it is like to see a properly trained acupuncture needle specialist. Chiropractors already know what they are doing and may wake up when they see physical therapist stopped State by State. These non-acupuncturists must learn to stick to their profession and respect the qualified acupuncturists that work in their communities. Support Best Practices for patient care by supporting appropriately trainined acupuncturists ("dry needling" practitioners) vs. inadequately trained non-acupuncturists.
