About Danceteria:
Created in 2019 as an accessible forum for artists and non-artists to improvise and socialize outside of the hierarchical structure of art organizations, Danceteria is returning with a series of public events designed to inspire and support creative development at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center and online via zoom. This event is open to people ages 18 and over with a suggested donation of $15.
Workshop Description:
In this Danceteria, we will explore the idea of a visual agenda and how we can artistically play with this tool of access by using it as a score for improvisation.
We will explore the juxtaposition of a structured agenda within a free-flowing improv and how we navigate structure and spontaneous decision-making. The concept of a visual agenda will be explored and abstracted through multiple artistic mediums and sensory experiences.
This workshop welcomes every body/mind and is striving to center access.
Access that will be offered includes open scores for physical movement, quiet space, and sensory aids (headphones, fidgets, etc). Forrest Jackson creates the soundscore for an improvisation ending at 8 pm. All levels and artistic mediums are welcome.
