Mind-Body-Spirit Transformation through Dance
In this guided freestyle dance class, you will move at your own pace, both internally and externally — in a way that enhances body awareness and self-love, taps into and expresses your authentic self, fills your spirit with joy and gratitude, and provides you with a whole-body workout. There are no particular dance steps; rather, you will be guided on how to connect to and move from the places in your body that feel good – even if just in your imagination for starters. This class is taught in a way that is safe, nurturing, and healing, for people of all levels of ability and disability, and no previous dance experience is required. Bring a pillow, mat, blanket, and warm pullover to enhance your comfort during the class.
To ensure the optimal enjoyment and freedom of movement of each participant, class size is limited to 6 participants. Pre-registration is encouraged to reserve your spot. Class is $15 for pre-registration and $20 at the door, if space is available.
About the class facilitator:
By re-conceptualizing dance as more than leaps, twirls, and fancy footwork, Loolwa Khazzoom discovered she could use dance to heal the chronic and debilitating pain that had plagued her for a decade. Through her own dance journey, she founded Dancing with Pain®, which has been featured in The New York Times, ABC News, Fox News, and other top media outlets. After receiving numerous requests to create a dance method for people not in physical pain but wanting to heal internally, Loolwa developed DANCEformation™: Mind-Body-Spirit Transformation through Dance. Loolwa now teaches workshops throughout California and offers downloadable audio classes and e-books online. Loolwa is also a health journalist and a publicist for holistic health practitioners, and in these capacities, she works with The Washington Post, Yoga Journal, Self, and other top media outlets. In all that she does, Loolwa lives and breathes the message that the power to heal lies in our hands.
