Dance comapny Yu.S.Artistry was founded by Japanese native dancer/choreographer, Yuki Ishiguro, in 2018. His choreographic works have been presented at various adjudicated dance festivals and venues across the country, such as Actors And Arts in 2019, Queens Theater in 2021, Booking Dance Festival at Lincoln Center, WHITE WAVE’s Solo/Duo Festival, DUMBO Dance Festival, Come Together Dance Festival at Suzanne Roberts Theater, Philadelphia, CDCfest at Orlando Rep Theater, among others.

This summer, the company will debut their latest evening-length production in Bucks County, PA, and will feature two exciting new pieces and a piece for community dance artists.

Yuki's newest work, "Memories of the moon," is inspired by the diary of a prisoner of a Japanese internment camp during WWII. The gentleman was imprisoned in a room without clocks, so he logged the passage of time by counting the full moons. The creation for this piece is financially supported by PLUNGE Grant 2023, created by famous New York dancers Kristalyn Gil and Grace Whitworth. Gibney Dance provided subsidized rehearsal space, also aiding the creation of this piece.

The second work is a world premiere piece choreographed for Yu.S.Artistry by one of the most celebrated contemporary choreographers in the US, Yoshito Sakuraba. Yoshito is the founding artistic director of Abarukas and an award-winning choreographer. Yoshito has presented his work in Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Israel, Mexico, and nationally across the U.S. including Joyce Theater, BAM, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Jacob's Pillow, Kaatsbaan, and McCallum Theater (Palm Desert Choreography Festival). He has received the Best Choreography Award at FINI Dance Festival in Italy, the Audience Award at Masdanza International Contemporary Dance Festival in Spain, and he's a winner of NW Dance Project's Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition and Whim W'Him's Shindig.

The third work will be performed by Yu.S.Artistry's Pennsylvania company. Yuki has been teaching at various local dance schools in Pennsylvania, and has been a long-standing faculty member at Institute of Dance Artistry. His students have gone on to puruse majors and minors in Dance and returned home hoping to find dance performance opportunities. Yuki's dream is to create the first professional dance company in Bucks Couny area. He has hired those former students and Philadelphia based professional dancers to perform in this production in the hopes of establishing a permanent relationship.

By following the company and attending this show , you can help bring high quality dance to your community. Please come watch our inaugural performance!
