Bachata is a style of partnered social dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, associated with Bachata music. Bachata has evolved from traditional into: modern, sensual, and fusion, It is now dance all over the world.

LADIES BACHATA STYLING- 1st/3rd Mon 7:30pm
Will provide you with the necessary tools to help you execute different body movements, without interfering with your partner's movements on the dance floor. In this class you will learn about technique, arm styling, footwork styling, body rolls, hip movement, balance, turns/spins, timing and musicality. This class will take place on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. Open level session.
FOOTWORK ONLY- 1st/3rd Mon 8:30pm
Will focused on different styles of Bachata footwork, traditional, modern and fusion. You will learn different terminology to help you identify the movement, you will establish a better understanding about music interpretation, switching of the beat, you will learn footwork tricks, and footwork sequence that you can implement during social dancing. This class will definitely add to your book of knowledge, it will help you feel more comfortable and enjoy your time on the dance floor. This is a coed footwork session, if this is your first time taking a Bachata lesson, it is advised that you sign up for the Intro to Bachata.
INTRO TO BACHATA- Tue 8:30pm
Will help you understand the basic fundamentals of the style of dance. In the class you will learn basic footwork, basic body movement, basic lead and follow, proper technique and connection, and understanding of music and timing. If you would like to get full knowledge of the Intro to Bachata Course, it is advised that you purchase one of the packages below as we will be reviewing and progressing every week. No partner necessary, open to everyone,
BACHATA SEASONING- Tue 9:30pm
It is time to add some flavor to your basic knowledge. This class will help you discover different ways of interpreting Bachata music. You will learn an intermediate level of body movement, identify switching of the beat, musicality, lead-able pattern combinations, arm and footwork styling during combination, the importance of safety, dos and don'ts on the dance floor, and proper technique for dips. This is NOT a progressive course, each week you will learn different material and will review important information and terminology. No partner necessary, Open to everyone. If this is your first time taking a Bachata Lesson, it is advised that you sign up for the Intro to bachata.
Bachata Dance is definitely a great way to meet and connect with people of all backgrounds. It is also a great way to release stress, express an emotion, stay healthy, get creative, overcome new challenges and create new memories.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Parking is available in the REI parking lot across the street after 9 pm. At other times, street parking is available on Gilman, San Pablo and neighboring streets. Please respect Ashkenaz's neighbors and keep voices down as you walk through the neighborhood, especially late at night.
What should/shouldn't I bring to class?
-Bring comfortable attire.
-Bring dance shoes (If you don't have any, bring comfortable shoes you can dance with but NO tennis shoes)
-Bring a towel, extra shirt, deodorant, wipes. (Be aware of your personal Hygiene)
-No Food allowed inside Studio. Lets keep our studio space clean, if you bring a snack you may have it in lobby area.
What is the refund policy?
Single lessons and packages are not refundable but we can credit to a future lesson with advance notice or you can transfer to someone else.
Single lesson: Expires in 1 month
Packages: Expire 2 to 3 months
