Dancing Mindfulness uses the art form of dance as the primary medium of discovering mindful awareness, while also offering you tools for healing, self-awareness, and intentional living. It is an expressive arts experience open to everyone regardless of previous experience with dance, yoga, music, meditation, or spiritual practice. The beauty of Dancing Mindfulness is that it honors the invitation to “come as you are.”
We all have an inner dancer just waiting to come out, just as we are all capable of mindful awareness. Dancing Mindfulness is a community practice, not a clinical practice, although Dr. Silas draws on his expertise as a clinical psychologist and professional dancer to help create the safest dance practice possible within any given setting.
Moving Dialogues workshops started at American University's Emerging Arts Leaders Symposium in 2015. Kelly King led a group of participating arts leaders to answer the question: "What makes me happy?"
Since then, Kelly has led Moving Dialogues workshops for businesses and community groups, including: Visit Baltimore, The Smith Center for Healing and the Arts, ReCreative Spaces, The Girl Scouts of America's Keys to Success Conference, Round House Theatre, Anacostia Arts Center, and more.
Kelly King is a creator. She generates movement, dialogue and joy; Kelly spends her days encouraging everyone to integrate movement into all aspects of their lives. She is the Artistic Director of Contradiction Dance and Co-Founder of The Movement Movement.
*Dance & Dialogue is produced in partnership with ReCreative Spaces.
