Event Details

Push Dance Company invites you to see Mixed Messages at Museum of the African Diaspora on May 21-29, 2011. This is a special collaboration with 3rd St Youth Center & Clinic and youth ages 12-21.

Dubbed by SF Guardian as “fierce and boundless,” Raissa Simpson brings her most visually compelling work about mixed race and San Francisco’s Multiracial Community to Museum of the African Diaspora in downtown SF. The company presents Mixed Messages a two-year collaboration between 3rd St Youth Center & Clinic with performances by youths ages 12-21 and special guest Village Dancers, Dr. Albirda Rose & Dr. Catherine Macklin.

   WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Whether you are a museum or dance lover, we want you to experience Mixed Messages. Mixed race is a topic that rarely seen, discussed, or presented in a public performance. Join us for this extraordinary experience!

  ARRIVAL PLANS
Ticket holders must arrive 15-minutes prior to showtime to guarantee admission. You are more than welcome to attend more shows but are required to return to the museum lobby and will call.

  NEVER QUITE SOLD OUT!
Last-minute tickets—rush tickets— at the door are typically available just before showtime even when the alloted advance ticket passes have sold out. A Rush line will form in the museum lobby usually ½  hour before showtime. Approximately ten minutes prior to the performance, available rush tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis to those in line. Rush tickets will only be sold to those actually waiting in line. No discounts.

  SEATING
Mixed Messages has an installation (staircases, corridors, showrooms) format where patrons will be ushered on a tour through the museum. Patrons must exit the performance space after every performance. The museum must be cleaned and prepared for the next performance. Patrons with tickets to another tour of Mixed Messages (or in another exhibit) must return to the ticket-holder line, which may be located outside the venue. Priority seating is only given to senior, disabled or mixed-ability ticket holders.

  DISCOUNTS
10% discounts are available to groups of 10 or more. Group discounts must be purchased under one holders name by May 15, 2011. Call 415 800 7943 for group reservations.

Senior discount applies to persons aged 62 and older. A copy of a valid ID must be provided at will call. Students must be enrolled full-time and present a valid ID at the time of the order.
