Damascus Steel Knifemaking Class
Event Information
Description
2 Day Blacksmithing class all day Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM with a one hour lunch break. This class is to make a knife from Damascus steel.
The class is interactive and you will work on a knife that is yours to keep. You will hammer, forge, harden, make the handle, sharpen, and do a great deal of the work yourself. The goal is to have a finished product at the end of class to take home.
Safety Information: You don’t need to bring much to class--safety glasses and work gloves are provided. It is advised to wear closed toe shoes, preferably leather, and natural fiber clothes such as cotton. Synthetic fibers can catch sparks more easily. As we are in Texas and it's already hot before the forges are fired up, particularly in the summer, please bring water to stay hydrated.
CLASS WILL NOT RUN WITH LESS THAN 3 PEOPLE SIGNED UP. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED TO COORDINATE AN ALTERNATE DATE.
