Panel Discussion with local criminal justice community and Q&A
Katherine Lawrence is a 21 year tenured Detention Supervisor for the Irving Police Department, in Irving Texas. Mrs. Lawrence has worked with the Irving Family Advocacy Center in the Domestic Violence Unit. In that capacity she has attained the knowledge of dealing with victims and not just offenders affording her the opportunity to see that there are two sides to every story.
Dr. Wafeeq Sabir:
Dr. Wafeeq Sabir is a recognized scholar practitioner and a retired police officer from the Fort Worth Police Department, where he served 25 years. He is a published author, researcher, and gang consultant. Dr. Sabir has served on several committees and boards regarding juvenile justice reform, gang intervention, cultural competency, and Islamic administration.
Derrick Davis Jr.:
Derrick Davis Jr., is a veteran who worked his way up to security team leader for his Battalion Commander and was responsible for Military Police Operations in West Baghdad, Iraq where he participated in training, equipping, and erecting the Iraqi National Police Force.
Afterwards, he was stationed in Fort Hood, where he worked as a covert and overt narcotics criminal investigator as a member of the North Central Texas Drug Task force along with members of the DEA, ATF, and Killeen PD. He is now a senior police officer with the Irving Police Department with a total of 10 years law enforcement experience.
