Come join us for an afternoon learning more about Autodesk products with Steven Roselle and Gary Davis.  Steven will be presenting on Maya, while Gary will be presenting on 3ds Max 2015.  More information about the speakers and their presentations is below.

Steven Roselle:

Steven began his career in 1996 as a 3D generalist.  Before joining Alias and later Autodesk, he worked on a diverse array of projects including broadcast graphics, medical and design visualization and video game development.  In his current role at Autodesk as a Sr. Technical Specialist, Steven works as a liaison between game and film studios and the Autodesk product development teams.  Over the years, he has had the opportunity to work with a long list of high profile accounts including studios at EA, Sony, Microsoft, Disney and Activision.  Above and beyond being an evangelist for Autodesk Media and Entertainment products, his work involves pipeline integration, workflow development,  and tools customization.  Additionally, Steven authors a popular blog on the Autodesk AREA website called “My Oh Maya”   >
Maya 2015 is one of the strongest, most diverse releases is years.  During this presentation, Steven will be covering a wide array of new features and enhancements including exciting technologies like Bifrost for procedural liquid effects and XGen for populating environments and creating hair and fur.  Additional topics will include new character rigging and animation features like Geodesic Voxel Binding and HIK cyclical constraints, a new node based shader authoring system called ShaderFX, as well as nuts and bolts improvements to modeling and UV editing.  Additionally Steven will discuss a number of enhancements to Mudbox, several of which allow for a much improved, streamlined workflow with Maya.
Gary Davis:
Gary M. Davis (@garydvisualz ) has been involved in providing CG for television, film, games and architectural visualization for over twenty years.  He has authored several books and has lectured at numerous industry conferences including GDC, NAB, SigGraph and Autodesk University.  At SigGraph 2007, Davis was named an Autodesk 3ds Max Master and shortly thereafter, joined Autodesk as a Technical Specialist with the Media & Entertainment division.  He actively maintains “Amalgamation”, a workflow tips & tricks blog, at
3ds Max 2015 represents a ground-breaking release that impacts artists/animators and technical directors in every industry as well as addresses several of the top UserVoice requested features and workflow improvements.  The numerous performance and efficiency gains within the 2015 release can be felt and taken advantage of immediately and have little to no learning curve.  During this presentation, Gary will focus on 2015 feature highlights including improved workflows for scene hierarchy and revised layer management, rendering enhancements to iRay & mental ray, animation tools including all four out-of-the-box toolsets for characters, Particle Flow, extended Graphite modeling workflows including the new Chamfer & Placement tools for ‘magnetic modeling’ and also pipeline integration options such as Python support and ShaderFX.  In addition, Reality-Capture (ReCap) workflows with an emphasis on entertainment will be explored including ways to sample the real world and use the results as starting points for projects of all scopes and sizes.
