Dalia: Featuring work by Frida Cornelio
Latin America has one of the highest rates of femicides around the world, and the cultural acceptance of this violence is linked to the culture of machismo that exists within Latin America. Through the depiction of the female portrait, Cornelio brings light into this issue and empowers women who have been victims of abuse to find their own self-worth.
Anti-Venom: Featuring work by Alex Tamahn
Toxic Masculinity is extremely destructive and pervasive, especially within the black community. Through this series of paintings, Tamahn shows how the Patriarchy we currently exist in must be interrogated and ultimately dismantled to allow for more healing, equity, and inclusion. Intending to ultimately bind and neutralize the venom that is toxic-masculinity. He seeks to ground the conversation at the intersections of Blackness, queerness, and masculinity.
