The Dakota Cohort Trainings in Deaf-Blindness: was developed through a collaborative effort between the National Center on Deaf-Blindness (NCDB), the South Dakota Deaf-Blind Program, and the North Dakota Dual Sensory Project. Through use of the NCDB developed on line training modules, the Dakota Cohort is able to provide participants with a “hosted site” which provides an opportunity for on line learning, participant discussions, technical support, review of assignments, and a variety of credit options.
There are four series/courses in this training (each containing four modules). Participants are required to take Series 1 and are encouraged to take Series 2 before taking any other series/courses. This will be provide you with a solid foundation of learning, which will be beneficial to you in subsequent modules. Ideally, you would stay within a series when selecting your courses. Those participants seeking university credit from USD, have the option of 1 credit (2 modules-first two or last two in a series), or 2 credits (4 modules). University credit seeking participants will receive a USD registration form upon registering.
Series/Couse 1: Modules 1-4 (Prerequisite for all future series/couses)

Series/Course 3: Modules 9-11 & 13
Series/Course 4: Modules 19, 22, 25 & 26

Introduction to Dakota Cohort for will be via Adobe Connect (series 1 only).
Credit options include:
- National Center on Deaf-Blindness Online Stored Badges (especially important for para-educators seeking to become interveners)
- Continuing education hours for teachers and speech language pathologist (used for recertification)
- University of South Dakota Credit (1 and 2 credit options) - $40 per credit (payment is separate from registration fee)
- RID and state interpreter credits (for recertification).
