Inland 1911 A1 Government
In 1941, with the US being pulled into one of the greatest conflicts in world history, a division of General Motors was tasked to support the war effort.

The result was firearm history with Inland Manufacturing becoming one of the largest gun manufacturers in the US, producing nearly 3 million firearms in less than 5 years.

Dayton, Ohio was home for the original Inland company, and is now the home of the new Inland Manufacturing located just two miles from the original facility. Today's Inland Manufacturing is now producing a new line of .30 caliber M1 carbines and 1911 style pistols.

Built to exacting standards, the Inland 1911A1 Government Model maintains historic military style with added modern features. The original "G.I." configuration includes vertical slide serrations, fixed combat sights and a lanyard loop. The precision-machined frame and slide complement the GI Style grip panels, thumb safety, slide release, barrel bushing and grip safety.

Inland History
The Inland Manufacturing, a Division of General Motors, was organized in 1922 and manufactured wood wrapped steering wheels. The Inland division utilized the buildings that once belonged to the Dayton Wright Airplane Company. With the outbreak of WWII, the Inland Division of General Motors was one of nine contractor-established manufacturing facilities that tooled up to produce the M-1 carbine, one of the primary riffles used by US troops, and was considered to be one of the nation’s best effort of ordnance manufacturing during the war.
Inland began producing the M1 Carbine in September 1941. They also manufactured most of the tooling that was used by other eight companies building the M1 Carbine.
By 1942, Inland was in full production of the M1 Carbine. Inland became one of the most important divisions of General Motors supporting the war effort. They built not only M1 Carbines, but also manufactured sights for anti-aircraft cannons, tank tracks, and aircraft components.
By the end of 1945, Inland had produced over two and a half million carbines. Inland’s M1 carbine and their variations (including the M1A1 paratrooper model with a folding stock - which were exclusively manufactured by Inland) are some of the most collectable samples of the iconic WWII rifle.
In total, Inland contributed the following to the war effort: (1,984,189) M-1 Carbines, (140,000) M1A1 Carbines, (500,000) M2 Carbines, (811) M3(T3) Carbines, (4,000,000) rubber and metal tank shoes, and Gun sights and Shoulder rests for Oerlikon 20-mm anti aircraft cannons.
In 1989 the Inland Division of General Motors merged with other companies of General Motors and ultimately became part of Delphi Automotive Systems and subsequently leftGeneral Motors in 1999. Inland Manufacturing, LLC was founded in 2013 with a commitment to provide the highest quality firearm-related products for the practical shooting enthusiast.
The new Inland Manufacturing team has over 100 years of combined firearm related experience and applied knowledge in firearm design, manufacturing as well as experience in military, law enforcement, and competitive shooting sports.
In addition to the M1 Carbines, Inland Manufacturing is also producing two models of the 1911 Semi-Auto Pistol. Though the 1911 A1 Government was also an iconic weapon of WWII, the original Inland Division never produced any 1911 style handguns as part of their war effort but are proud to offer their new version to commemorate the times.
